The ILOA is a 501(c)(3) organization with the mission to “expand human understanding of the cosmos through observation from our Moon.”
- Co-founded the ILOA and championed its marketing and communications strategy, which helped to cultivate its highly-esteemed international members of the Board (some of the world’s most accomplished astronauts, astronomers, engineers, space agency leaders and entrepreneurs)
- Solicited extensive national and international support to send a robotic observatory to the moon.
- Planned, organized and marketed in numerous conferences and events throughout USA, Asia and Europe. Lots of guerrilla marketing here!
Associate Editor
Space Age Publishing Company (SPC), November 2002 – July 2004; August 2006 – December 2010
SPC is a commercial publishing company that produces a space news daily, space calendar weekly and various community events and forums to report and support a human return to the moon.
- Co-produced the “International Lunar Conference 2003,” a major space industry gathering that drew record participation and brought together an unprecedented mix of scientists, policy makers, entrepreneurs and Apollo astronauts.
- Crafted well over a hundred powerful letters to notable space and government officials, as well as many news articles.
- Advanced the flagship Space Calendar to a WordPress site on a TLD domain from archaic HTML on a subdomain.
Internet Marketing Developer
Hawaiian Vacations, Inc. (HVI), August 2004 – November 2007
HVI was a travel charter company which sold air flights, accommodations and car rentals between Alaska and Hawai‘i.
- Inspired and trained colleagues in my department to establish a prosperous in-house web marketing team.
- Set the precedent for a company-wide style and editorial guide for online and offline marketing campaigns.
- Took the lead on a successful and collaborative redesign and rebranding of www.hawaiianvacations.com, which boosted site traffic by 600%, online bookings by $1.7M and saved the company $120K over the course of two years.
Materials and Technology Specialist
Research Corporation of the University of Hawai‘i, July 2000 – November 2002
This was a federally-funded position at the Cancer Research Center of Hawai‘i’s Cancer Information Service.
- Held bi-monthly training sessions for colleagues to get them more efficient and comfortable on their computers and the Internet.
- Crafted various education materials and a website under strict federal publishing guidelines for a Native Hawaiian cancer support organization. The job demanded a great deal of cultural sensitivity and keen awareness to style and tone.
